| On January 1st, 2006, the OFFICE DE L'ELEVAGE (National Office for Meat and Dairy Products) replaced OFIVAL (Meat Office) and ONILAIT (Milk Office). This constitutes an important stage in the restructuring of the French agricultural offices, after various synergies had developed between the two original offices. |
| The OFFICE DE L'ELEVAGE maintains two specialised consultative boards for meat and milk. In time, it will be governed by a plenary Consultative Board covering all sectors. |

The new office aims to promote the synergies needed to ensure the effectiveness of public actions in favour of livestock production and to develop and optimise the structure and economy of the milk and meat sectors. Its missions are organised around six major themes. |
